February 25 – In Full Bloom – The Orchard Exhibit

It may be the depth of winter, but Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens is teeming with color! Our annual orchid exhibit is sure to impress, with hundreds of tropical orchids creatively displayed in the warm tropical exhibition area. Orchid sales and orchid vendors, presentations and workshops – there’s something for everyone! Guided tour and admission is included in price. Meet at Nash at 1 pm. We will be on site for approximately 2 hours. We will have time to stop at the gift shop and GreenFire Restaurant for an early dinner. Dinner will be on your own expense.  Register by February 19.


March 18 – Secret to My Success

Join us for a trip to Paramount Theatre in Aurora see a Broadway performance of The Secret to my Success! Is success money? A powerful job? A happy marriage? Join us for the World Premiere of The Secret of My Success, a hilarious, heartfelt new musical based on Universal Pictures film. Brantley Foster, a young ambitious Midwesterner, moves to New York City to start his dream job at a major corporation only to be laid off o the very fist day. In his relentless enthusiasm to succeed, Brantley finds himself angled up in a sidesplitting scheme in which he assumes the identity of a rising executive named Carlton Whitfield. As he climbs the corporate ladder, tirelessly concealing his identity, Brantley soon falls in love with a beautiful colleague named Christy Mendez and discovers that his definition of success might be all wrong. Adapted from the smash 1987 Michael J. Fox movie, The Secret of My Success is a wild look at corporate culture, ambition an making your own way in life. Includes Lunch.  Register by February 27.


March 31 – Illinois Holocaust Museum

Visit the third-largest Holocaust museum in the world. The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center provides a world-class museum and education experience, honoring memories and inspiring individuals, regardless of age, to stand up for what they believe in. Experience the museum on a guided tour. Hear survivors stories during the interactive 3-D Hologram Survivor Experience. Before visiting the museum we will have about 3 hours to enjoy shopping and lunch at Old Orchard Shopping Center. You can enjoy a little shopping with th variety of shops (over 100) and there are great selections or food as well. Grab something quick so you have time to shop, or sit a while and relax maybe at Maggiano’s. There are more than 15 choices, to include the Cheesecake Factory for a delish dessert. Trip fee includes transportation and Museum admission.  Register by March 16.


April 16 – Simply Spring – The Butterfly Exhibit

Celebrate the arrival of spring at Nicholas Conservatory & Gardens as you experience the magical world of butterflies! Enjoy being surrounded by live butterfly in the tropical conservatory, and see the whole butterfly lie cycle in action as you view butterflies emerging from their chrysalis in the emergence area. Experience the beauty of native and exotic topical butterflies! Guided tour and entrance is included in price. Meet at Nash at 1 pm. We will be on site for approximately 2 hours. We will have time to stop at the gift shop and for Prairie Street Brewhouse for lunch. Lunch will be on your own expense. Register by April 9.


April 22 – Circa 21 Saturday Night Fever

Join us for a day trip to the Circa ‘21 Dinner Playhouse in Rock Island for a fabulous lunch and the Musical Saturday Night Fever. The musical is based on the 1970 movie phenomenon that launched the disco era and made John Travolta a household name. See Tony Manero and his partner Stephanie fall for each other as they train for the big dance competition. The stage musical features hit songs: “Stayin’ Alive,” “Disco Inferno,” and “How Deep Is Your Love” to name a few. Enjoy lunch and the performing wait staff before the 1:30 show.  Register by March 20.


May 2 – Utica Wine Tasting & Cajun Connection

Enjoy an afternoon/evening away and leave the driving to us! We are heading to Utica where you can enjoy wine tasting o shopping or a little bit of both., Illinois River Winery and August Hill are great for sampling, relaxing, buying and shopping. For dinner we will head to the popular Cajun Connection home of the best Cajun food in the Illinois Valley. Trip fee is for transportation only.  Register by April 23.


May 12 – Lombard Lilacs and Cantigny Estate Park

Enjoy the sights and smells of beautiful lilacs in May. Learn about the large variety of lilacs on the walking tour of Lilacia Park in Lombard. Then enjoy lunch (on your own) and a little shopping downtown Lombard. Then we will head to the magnificent Cantigy Estate Park, the former home of Colonel Robert R. McCormick known for his service, a farmer, Publisher and Editor of the Chicago Tribune , his service in the military and at the Battle of Cantigy. Enjoy a walk through the gardens and take a walk in heroes’ boots at the First Division Museum. Be immersed in the history of the U.S. Army’s famed 1st Infantry. Interactive exhibits, life size dioramas and the iconic tank park are favorites of visitors. The museum is a tribute to all those who have served and continue to serve to protect Americas freedom.  Register by April 27.
