Grant Received for Park West Improvements

Feb 15th, 2019

Oregon Park District has been awarded a $400,000 grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to assist in completing Phase II improvements at Park West.

Oregon Park District began seeking community input for Park West in 2017. Following several public meetings and an online survey, the District incorporated feedback from residents to help create a master plan for the park. Features planned for Park West include ADA improvements, improved lighting, replacement of the existing shelter, playground, & volleyball courts and addition of an outdoor classroom, batting cage, and YALP Sport Court. Planning is underway and more information will be released on construction and completion date in the coming months.

The IDNR funds are matched one-to-one with local funds, creating jobs and enriching the quality of life for communities across the state. The Oregon Park District is currently on schedule to complete a master plan for each park site over the next 10 years with planned improvements at each park.
