Family Fun Fishing Day - All Ages: Bring the entire family to Park
East by the dam for a morning of fishing fun. This event is co-sponsored by Rock
River Outfitters and T.J.’s Bait and Tackle. The first 50 children will receive
a free container of bait. Learn to tie knots, bait your hook, fillet a fish, and
more. Of course you should also fish for a bit so we can measure, weigh, and take
your photo with your fish. Enjoy the casting contest, sinker games, and register
to win a fishing gift basket. We even have fishing for children 5 and under (no
water involved). Special guests will include the IDNR with a presentation on fishing
the Rock River. Concessions available by Cliff Jones. Date: Saturday, 9/19/09

Family Camping at Park East: Bring your tent to Park East for a family camp-out.
Families are welcome to participate in the hot dog roast, nature hike, craft, camp
fire, marshmallow roasting, and more. Sunday morning includes a light breakfast
and a discovery walk/scavenger hunt. Fee: $15 per site - Date: Sat/Sun
9/26 - 9/27 4pm - 10am at Park East.
Holloween Carnival Grades Pre K - 5th: Put on your Halloween costume and
come to Nash for the annual Halloween Carnival celebration. Try your hand at many
games and win candy or prizes. Each child will receive 12 FREE tickets in a Halloween
bag. Bring the kids and extra money for additional game and raffle tickets. Your
name could be drawn to win great prizes donated by local businesses! Date:
Preschool - Thursday, 10/29/09 10am-11:30am and K-5th - Thursday, 10/29/09 3:30pm
- 5pm.
Letters To Santa: Do you have a wish list or a story to tell Santa? Write
a letter to jolly old St. Nick and hear what he has to say. Santa’s elves will be
installing a mailbox at Nash for your letter to be mailed. Be sure to enclose a
.44 cent stamp and your return address! Letters can be mailed beginning November
9 through December 13.
Breakfast with Santa All Ages: Come to Nash in casual or holiday dress
for a light breakfast with Santa. Enjoy time socializing with friends in a holiday
atmosphere. Fill up with donuts, muffins, fruit, juice, and more. Children should
be accompanied by at least one parent, but the whole family is invited. Take time
to sit on Santa’s lap and share your holiday wishes. You will also be able to make
an ornament for your tree and enjoy holiday music. We encourage you to bring your
camera or we can take a photo and mail it to you for a small fee. Register early
to reserve your seat. *Participants 2 years and younger are free. Date:
Saturday 12/12/09 8:30-10:30am - Fee $4 per person.
Mix Park Holiday Lights: Enjoy the holiday light display on Route 2 at Mix
Park. Local businesses will sponsor the individual displays for your viewing enjoyment.
The display will be lit from Oregon’s Candlelight Walk, November 28, 2009 through
New Year’s Day, January 1, 2010.
Holiday Light Contest: Enter your family’s home in the 1st annual holiday
lights home decorating contest. Simply complete the entry form at www.oregonpark.org
by December 11 to be entered in this FREE contest. Judges will be out the week of
December 21. The grand prize winner will be announced on Monday, December 28.
Photography Contest: Give us your best shot! The rules of this community-wide
amateur photo contest are simple: as you enjoy the parks, facilities, and recreation
programs, capture these moments on your camera. Submit them by January 15, 2010
for a chance to win a prize and have your picture appear in the Oregon Park District
Spring/Summer Activity Guide. The entry form and contest rules are available at
www.oregonpark.org.
Tea at Ogle County Historical Society - All Ages The Oregon Park District
and Ogle County Historical Society are partnering to bring you an afternoon of tea.
Tea and other enchanting morsels will be served at the Carriage House. Entertainment
will include a rare look into the private lives of past Ogle County residents who
left us a glimpse of history in their diaries. You will find this an interesting,
educational, and sometimes humorous program presented in a unique venue. Tours of
the 19th Century Nash home will also be part of your afternoon. Date:
Thursday, 10/15/09 - 2pm. Fee: $12/$15NR. Deadline to register
is 10/09.
