Camp Oh-Pea-Dee

Oregon Park District’s Summer Camp – ‘Camp Oh-Pea-Dee goes OLYMPIC!’

May 28, 2024 – August 9, 2024 | 7:30 am – 5:00 pm

Camp Oh-Pea-Dee is designed for students entering kindergarten through sixth grade.  We emphasize fun, planned activities, peer socialization, and personal achievement.

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris France this summer. Camp Oh-Pea-Dee will be going Olympic to celebrate along with the athletes. We will spend June and July learning about the different countries that participate in the Olympics and famous Olympians from each country. Our final week in August will have us holding our own Camp Oh-Pea-Dee games with a variety of activities. Each week will also feature park/outside time, a field trip, games, and other activities. Lunch will be available some days and a nutritious snack will be served each afternoon.

Tuesdays through Thursdays will feature activities around the weekly theme with a field trip.  Tuesday through Thursday sessions are $120 R/$140 NR. Mondays and Fridays can be added on for an additional $30R/$35NR per day.  Mondays will feature planned fun activities and Fridays will feature a day at the Splash Pad!  We will be swimming on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays as well.  This summer camp is limited to 25 campers per week.  Do not let your child miss out on this amazing experience!  Be sure to sign up early and reserve your spot!  Contact Kelley Huston at (815)732-3101 or kelley@oregonpark.org with any questions. Registration for camp will begin on April 2, 2024.

A full refund will be issued if the Park District reschedules or cancels a session.

Camp Oh-Pea-Dee Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I register for specific weeks and/or specific days?

A:  You may register for just Tuesday-Thursday, or add on Monday and Friday.  We are offering camp on a week-by-week basis, or you may register for the entire summer with our payment plan option.

Q:  We may have family vacations and/or other trips that we don’t know the dates of yet?

A:  A 10% non-refundable deposit is due when reserving your week. Please review the refund policy on this page for the timeline to request a refund and withdrawal.

Q:   Where will Camp Oh-Pea-Dee be located this summer?

A:  Camp will be housed at the Nash Recreation Center in the Prairie Room.  This location provides access to the gym, outdoor play space and is centrally located for all the parks we will be visiting.  The doors at Nash are secured in the summertime as safety is always a top priority.  Campers will still utilize our many parks and the splash pad.

Q:  Field Trips are back, where will the campers be going?

A: Field Trips are be planned to places like the Discovery Center, The Rockford Museum Center, Summerhill Zoo as well as our local parks and businesses.  Transportation will be by Oregon Park District Van when required.

Q:  Camp runs from 7:30-5 each day?  What if I am running late and need to pick up after 5 pm?

A:  Staffing and program costs are the biggest hurdles for any summer camp.  Due to this, we have to make cuts to our programming time.  WE promise to provide the same programming/activities you have come to expect from Camp Oh Pee Dee.  Late pickups will be charged a late fee of $15 for every 15 minutes your child stays with us at camp.  We enforce this late policy to keep program/staff costs low so that everyone may enjoy camp!  Payment of late fees must be made prior to the following week of camp.  Please contact Kelley at kelley@oregonpark.org or call (815)732-3101 with any questions.

Q:  What will my child need to bring to camp?

A:  Campers will need to bring a reusable water bottle each day.  Campers will need to bring a swimsuit and towel on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.  Campers will need to bring a lunch each day that is peanut-free.  A snack and drink will be provided each afternoon.  We ask that campers wear closed toed shoes or sandals with straps, no flip flops as we will be active most days in either the gym or outside.  We ask that campers wear a red shirt on Wednesdays for Field Trips.  Information for Wednesday field trips will be sent home prior to each week for those enrolled.  Campers will be active this summer and we encourage them to dress for fun and activity each day.
